At re:publica, sparkling eyes do not only belong in front of the stages, unnexpected surprises can be found everywhere.
The re:publica Track unites supporting program, evening program and all the colorful ongoings, that can be discovered and shaped by you. Be prepared to get kidnapped by aliens, your decision on who to vote for is understood by an artificial intelligence and a machine that mixes cherry and banana juice tells you about your fortune. Also exciting: you will find video and sound installations about physicality and identity all over the station.
If you want to escape from the digital stream at some point, there is the possibility to play ukulele or to think about your relationship to your smartphone at Maya Magnas Performance. All of these activities take place as installations, performances, live-video-broadcasting and inside virtual reality.
A small hint at the end: there will be a lot of Disco Dance, so it is time to get your training shoes from the basement. Move your body to the POP!
- re:publica-Wie transportiert man die unendliche Weite des Ozeans am besten in die Köpfe der Bewohner einer staubigen Stadt, fernab des Meeres? Wie gewährt man Passanten einen Blick hinter den Horizont, dort wo sich das Wasser in den Wolken sammelt, die den Regen bringen? Das "Schaufenster Ozean" will als Beitrag zum Wissenschaftsjahr 2016*17 „Meere und Ozeane“ genau das ermöglichen. Videoprojektionen verwandeln leerstehende Schaufenster in verschiedenen deutschen Städten in riesige Aquarien. Einen kleinen Teil des Meeres wollen wir auch auf die re:publica bringen.

- re:publica-IF BY WATER is a silent video installation, running on a loop, and projected into an enclosed space. The flickering abstraction incorporates thousands of unique and found images of water, as it makes itself felt in the world, and a flood of themes to which it gives rise.
- re:publica-The Presence of Secrets is an interactive installation that provokes questions around our relationship to machines, and the ways in which our private correspondence is digitally and intractably distributed. What kind of logic or intelligence is beyond or behind this screen? What sorts of secrets do we have? Who is watching or reading our words? The installation brings up questions around emerging technologies, cultural norms, individual identity, and uncertain futures.

Life2Data.” exhibit takes us to Yogyakarta, Indonesia, to explore the relationship between data and people’s daily lives. “Data2Life” shows how data flows from source to user. “Life2Data” captures how data is represented through realities people face: the condition of schools, access to water and status of health services, while daunting as government data, can tell stories of data in action.
