Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)
- Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)-We’ll take you on our journey of pioneering open data in Southeast Asia: the uphill climbs we’ve made, seeing our “Responsive Open Data Model” take root in open data practice, “Moving from projects to policies”, “From smart to open cities”, and more of the steps we’ve taken along the way. We’ll share our first-hand lessons learned and experiences on what it’s like to be among the first to tackle open data in Indonesia and across Southeast Asia, as well as the significance of collaborations.
- Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)-Vibrobots!
You know the tiny thing that makes your phone vibrate? Stick a tiny battery to the tiny vibration motor to a tiny toothbrush and you have a (yes, tiny) little insect that moves around on its own.
Join in on the colour and movement at the GIG MakerSpace, pick from collected e-waste and re-purpose bits to make an electronic insect, make it move, add some colour, leave your mark. - Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)-Learning how to code can be much easier when you can see, touch and feel what you are coding. In this electronics and programming workshop designed for total beginners, we will go through a series of simple challenges that develop on top of each other and build a small snake-like game influenced by the physical world.
- Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)-Of magnets and miracles. The IoT-Rex is the dinosaur that moves when you tap a button on your smartphone app.
This is an introductory workshop that combines the physicality of paper folding with the "digitalness" of WiFi and basic electronics to make origami move.
Jump right in with the Internet of Things (IoT) and make your very own creature come alive. Basic electronics, some copy-paste coding, paper-folding, and magnets and miracles :) - Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)-The Good, the Bad and the Zero: This panel will explore different examples of zero-rated services across the world, looking into potential products of public interest as well as so-called walled gardens. Featuring speakers from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Chile and the EU, we will compare different regulations and patterns of investment trying to depict and identify strategies of how to increase access without undermining the free and open nature of the Internet which must be governed by human rights.
- Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)-Whole regions benefit from fostering digital startups.
- Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)-In today’s world there is much talk about sustainability, however we lack tools to implement it. Sustainable development is only possible if everyone has the ability to access and share knowledge necessary to make conscious decisions. By presenting two open source initiatives, MATERIABRASIL and POC21, I will explore how open source technologies will enable true sustainable development.

Join us in our road trip to explore the world of innovation spaces and discover their impact on society.
